Japan Renewable Energy Corporation (JRE) has concluded a joint investment agreement with Tohoku Electric Power Co., Inc. to invest in onshore wind power projects being developed in the Tohoku region, Japan.

The three projects to be jointly invested in are 17 MW JRE Tsuruoka Hachimoriyama Wind Farm in Yamagata, 33.6 MW JRE Shichinohe Towada Wind Farm in Aomori, and 46.8 MW JRE Oritsumedake South 1 Wind Farm in Iwate, which have commenced construction since 2019. These projects will have a combined capacity of approximately 97,000 kW and an annual power generation of approximately 265 million kWh (equivalent to the annual power consumption of 60,200 households). They are scheduled to commence operation between 2021 and 2023. Each of the above projects has been developed by JRE, and Tohoku Electric Power will invest in the three special-purpose companies created to operate the Projects.
