J-Power, Genex Power to build 150 MW wind project in Queensland

Japan’s Electric Power Development Co Ltd (J-Power) is partnering with Genex Power Ltd to build a 150 MW wind project that forms part of a renewable energy hub in Queensland, Australia. 

The 150 MW Kidston Stage-3 Wind project will be built to complement the 250 MW K2-Hydro pumped storage and the 270 MW K2-Solar solar project that forms the Kidston Renewable Energy Hub. 

J-Power is committing up to AUD25 million (US$18.4 million) to realize the project. Construction is set to start in 2022 with targeted commercial operation by 2024.
