Genex Power (Genex) has strengthened its relationship with Stanwell Corporation Limited (Stanwell) with an additional offtake agreement for its 775 MW Bulli Creek Stage 1 Solar Project.
The new deal spans two projects, the Bulli Creek Solar Farm 125 km southwest of Toowoomba, and the Kidston Solar Farm in Far North Queensland. Bulli Creek Stage 1 Solar Farm is a 775 MW / 2,234 GWh solar facility being co-developed by Genex and J-Power and is set to become the largest grid-connected solar farm in Australia once in operation. Under a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), Stanwell will purchase up to 550 MW from Bulli Creek Stage 1 Solar Farm, the first phase of a multi-stage development at the Bulli Creek Clean Energy Park that will include up to 2 GW of solar and large-scale battery storage.
The Kidston Solar Farm contract marks SAMCo’s second solar operations and maintenance (O&M) deal, which will create four permanent on-site positions. SAMCo will begin its work in late October 2024, managing key tasks such as electrical operations, inspections, maintenance of panels, inverters, high voltage systems, and fire break maintenance. The contract also includes routine cleaning of the panels and grass and weed control. Stanwell and Genex are exploring the possibility of SAMCo handling O&M services for the Bulli Creek site in the future.
