The Independent Planning Commission of the State of New South Wales has approved the development of the 200 MW solar photovoltaic project that is proposed by GAIA Australia Pty Ltd.
NSW's Department of Planning, Industry & Environment assessment reveals that the project meets environmental criteria and is in the public interest. The Bonshaw solar project will be built on agricultural land and will require an estimated investment of about AUD238 million (US$178.9 million). The solar farm is planned to have a 300 MW energy storage unit.
The planning commission requires that the developers should rehabilitate the site one the solar farm no longer in operation and submit an aboriginal cultural heritage management plan.
