The Isle of Wight Council in UK targets the commissioning of the long-delayed energy-from-waste (EfW) project this summer 2021.
The construction of the project has started in April 2017 with the development contract awarded to Amey plc. The project can accommodate up to 44,000 tonnes of waste per year. The plant uses technology from German waste technology provider Michaelis.
The project features a recycling recovery facility, which will be owned by the council with the operations carried out by Amey.
