innogy together with NEW Re, a subsidiary of NEW AG, has been awarded a contract to build a 27 MW Jüchen wind project in North Rhine-Westphalia, by the Federal Network Agency.
In mid-2018, Innogy and NEW Re, the NEW subsidiary for regenerative projects, agreed to jointly develop the wind project in Jüchen. innogy is involved in the project with 51 percent and the regional partner NEW Re with 49 percent. Approval was granted by the Rhein-Kreis Neuss in November 2019.
The wind farm is to be built in the urban area of Jüchen along the new section of the A44 on around 90 hectares of a recultivated area of the Garzweiler opencast mine. This location enables large distances to residential buildings of at least 2,700 meters. The facility planned to use six Nordex N149 4.5 MW turbines which generate enough electricity to meet the demand of around 26,000 households.
Construction is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2020 and commissioning is scheduled to take place one year later.
