German Federal Network Agency, also known as the Bundesnetzagetur (BNetzA), has identified the first section of the underground direct current cable link project that will carry wind energy from northern to the southern part of Germany.
The section A of the SuedLink project is approximately 100 km long that will cover Brunsbuettel/Wilster to Scheeßel. BNetzA mostly follows the proposal of the project promoters TenneT TSO GmbH and TransnetBW GmbH.
The project developers are now preparing the documents for the planning process. TenneT TSO has already prepared the application for planning approval to the knowledge of the Federal Network Agency parallel to the federal planning process.
The project is expected to be operational by 2026.
