The Government of Scotland has approved Intelligent Land Investments Group (ILI Group) for the development of a 450 MW Red John pumped hydro energy storage facility located on the shores of Loch Ness, Loch, Scotland, United Kingdom.
The project has a total investment cost of about GBP550 million (US774.37 million). The hydro energy storage facility will save more than 45 million tonnes of CO2 over its lifetime.
In 2021, a public consultation has been conducted before the project being approved.
RWE has started initial construction works for the 1.4 GW Sofia offshore wind farm located on Dogger Bank in the North Sea.
