Spanish developer Grupo Ibereolica Renovables has submitted an environmental impact study (EIS) for the proposed 1,171 MW renewable energy complex in the region of Antofagasta in Chile.
Named ERNC Antofagasta, the complex will consist of a 496 MW wind farm and a 675 MW/752.5 MWp solar photovoltaic farm. The project will have 80 6.2-MW turbines, about 1.4 million PV modules, two 33/500 kV transformer substations for the solar PV plant, and a 500 kV transmission line to deliver the power produced to the National Electric System.
It is estimated that an investment of about US$874 million is needed to realize the project.
