Hellenic Cables has signed a contract with Orsted for the supply of inter-array cables for the 2,852 MW Hornsea 3 offshore wind project located off the coast of Yorkshire, UK. The contract covers the supply, design, manufacturing, termination, and testing of the 262 km of 66 kV inter-array cables with XLPE insulation, that will connect the Hornsea 3 offshore converter station to the wind turbines.
Hornsea 3 will be the third development in the Hornsea zone by Orsted, bringing the combined total capacity in excess of 5 GW.
The project aims to contribute to the UK government’s push towards achieving 50 GW offshore wind by 2030. The offshore cable manufacturing is due to commence in Q4 2025 at Hellenic Cables’ factory in Corinth, Greece.
