Equinor has started generating power from the first of 11 turbines at its 88 MW Hywind Tampen floating wind project off Norway.
The wind farm is anticipated to supply approximately 35% of the North Sea's Snorre and Gullfaks oil and gas fields' electricity needs. This will reduce annual CO2 emissions from the fields by about 200,000 tons.
This year, seven of eleven Siemens Gamesa turbines are scheduled to come online. The last four turbines have been assembled this fall and will be installed on the field next year during a favorable weather window.
