Evolution Power has submitted a planning application to the North Herts District Council and Luton Borough Council for the development of the 50 MW solar photovoltaic project located about 1 km north of the eastern end of the runway at Luton Airport in Bedfordshire, UK.
The project will be constructed on about 106 ha site which will consist of solar infrastructures and local biodiversity or allocated for recreational facilities.
The solar farm will be connected to the national grid through a nearby substation in Luton, while the energy storage facility will be able to supply power supply to the grid during peak energy demand.
The Council's Planning Committee is expected to provide the decision in early 2023.
