The state-owned South African utility Eskom has launched a tender for the design, construction, and operation of a 35 MW/140 MWh battery energy storage project located at Eskom's Melkhout substations in Eastern Cape and a 2.04 MW solar photovoltaic system with a 1.5 MW/6 MWh battery storage facility located at Mier substation in Rietfontein, Northern Cape province, South Africa.
The selected bidders should be able to deliver the two projects within a period of six months, up to a maximum period of eight months, from the signing of the contract. The winning developers should also operate and provide maintenance services to the projects for a period of five years.
The deadline for the submission of documents to participate in the tender is on March 1, 2023.
