Eolus has applied to the 1GW Blekinge Offshore wind farm, 11km off the coast of Blekinge, southern Sweden.
The project site, situated in Karlshamn and Sölvesborg municipalities, encompasses approximately 70 turbines expected to generate around 4.3TWh of renewable electricity annually. The wind farm is positioned approximately 11km from the mainland and 5km east of Hanö, identified as a suitable area for energy production in Blekinge's coastal plans.
An application for an environmental permit has been submitted to the Land and Environment Court in Växjö. Following this, the applications, which include an environmental impact assessment and related investigations, will undergo a consultation process with concerned stakeholders before the permit decision is finalized. Blekinge Offshore, a joint venture between Eolus and local company Vingkraft, is behind the initiative, with construction slated to commence in 2027.
