Enlight Renewable Energy Ltd-led special purpose vehicle (SPV) plans to add a solar PV park and a battery energy storage system (BESS) to its current 300 MW Gecama wind project in Castilla-La Mancha, Spain.

The hybrid will consist of the installation of a 250 MWac solar park with 435,000 bifacial PV modules on 8,364 single-axis trackers as well as a 100 MW BESS with 80 battery containers. The overall budget is estimated to be approximately EUR175.9 million (US$185.2 million).

The project is controlled by Enlight with 72% ownership. The Gecama wind project has been in operation since mid-2022. The project generates enough power consumption for up to 260,000 homes.
