Naturgy Energy Group SA has started commercial operations on the Tabernas I and II solar photovoltaic (PV) projects (50 MWp each) located in Andalusia, southern Spain.
The EUR52 million (US$55.2 million) solar plants are expected to produce over 228 GWh per year, sufficient to cover the yearly energy needs of 65,400 residences. In the same location, Naturgy Energy is currently developing six other solar facilituies with a total capacity of 240 MW.
Naturgy, formerly known as Gas Natural Fenosa, is a multinational group focussed on natural gas and utilities operating in more than 30 countries and with almost 18 million customers, headquartered in Barcelona. The company has an installed capacity of 15.45 GW and a diversified power generation mix on an international scale.
