Heineken Spain and Engie Spain have agreed to build and commission a concentrated solar power (CSP) plant on the premises of the Heineken factory in Seville, Spain.
The new solar thermal plant will reduce fossil gas use by more than 60%, lowering Heineken's carbon footprint by about 7,000 tons per year.
Engie will be responsible for the design, installation, management, maintenance and financing of the project, as defined in the Build, Own, Operate, Transfer (BOOT) contract. Engie will supply renewable energy to Heineken´s Seville site for the next 20 years.
