ENGIE has taken the Final Investment Decision (FID) in the development of the 10 MW Yuri hydrogen project located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The scheme will consist of a 10 MW electrolyzer supported by 18 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) and an 8 MW battery energy storage system.
The first phase of the Yuri project will produce up to 640 tons of renewable hydrogen per year as a zero-carbon feedstock for Yara Australia's ammonia production facility in Karratha. Completion of the project is scheduled for 2024.
The permitting process has been completed and the construction is expected to start in November 2022. A 100% off-take contract has also been secured. Technip Energies and Monford Group are selected as the project's engineering, construction, and procurement (EPC) contractors.
