ENGIE North America received the South Dakota PUC siting authorization for its 200 MW North Bend wind project.

The company will erect 71 wind turbines on 46,931 acres in Hyde and Hughes counties. The US$265 million North Bend wind farm is expected to open in late 2023.

Access roads, underground 34.5kV electrical collector lines, underground fiber-optic cable, and a 34.5kV to 230kV collection substation will be installed. A 230kV interconnection switching station, aircraft detecting lighting system, and permanent meteorological tower will also be included. It will connect to Western Region Power Administration's 230 kV Fort Thompson-Oahe transmission line in the southern project area.
