Enel Colombia has begun building on its 29.87 MW Baco solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Chiriqui province on Panama's western coast.
The new solar farm will be built adjacent to the Madre Vieja solar farm, which is currently under development and producing 31 MW. Baco will have more than 50,400 solar panels placed on 32 ha and will share a 34.5 kV connecting line with the Madre Vieja solar farm.
The new solar farm is expected to produce 48 GWh annually. Enel anticipates that the facility will be operational by the end of 2023.
Enel Colombia is a subsidiary of Italian utility Enel SpA.
