EGP, Kio Networks sign PPA for 5,000 MWh annual output of Fortuna Hydro Plant

Enel Green Power Panama (EGPP), the renewable energy subsidiary of Enel SpA, and KIO Networks Panama, an international company that offers a broad portfolio of critical mission infrastructure and information technology services, have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for the annual supply of 5,000 MWh of renewable electricity. This enhances the technology company’s commitment to the environment.

The Fortuna Hydro Plant will supply renewable energy to the KIO Networks Data Center in Panama, thereby preventing the emission of 2,764.70 tons of CO2 per year.

KIO Networks, which was founded in Mexico, has 40 world-class data centers, in Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and Europe.  It is committed to increasing its use of renewable energy in order to provide a better life to our planet and its inhabitants. Its objective is the technological transformation of organizations - public or private - and the improvement of the end-user experience. It provides all the necessary services so that society can use basic tools, such as platforms to make video calls with colleagues and family members, as well as large data systems that enable highly complex processes and transactions, remotely, thereby guaranteeing the business continuity of its clients.

Enel Green Power Panama is the main renewable energy operator in Panama, in terms of installed capacity. The company operates the 300 MW Fortuna Hydroelectric Plant and the 12 MW Chiriquí photovoltaic plant, which are both in the province of Chiriquí, as well as the 42 MW Sol Real photovoltaic complex, that consists of five plants distributed between the provinces of Chiriquí and Coclé, and the 8 MW Estrella Solar plant in Coclé.
