A group of companies led by SGP BioEnergy has partnered with the Government of Panama to develop a biofuels production and distribution facility in Colon and Balboa, Panama.

The Biorefineria Ciudad Dorada (Golden City Biorefinery) project will be the largest advanced biorefinery and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production platform in the world producing 2.6 billion gallons of biofuel per year.

Topsoe has agreed to license its HydroFlex and H2 Bridge technologies for the project while Fluor Corp and its affiliate ICA Fluor will provide a front-end engineering study. Goldman Sachs will assist the developers with the identification of potential investors for the project.

The project is expected to be completed in 2027.
