The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) has approved grant financing for the 25 MW/50 MWh Darlington Point battery project in New South Wales promoted by Australian solar and battery storage company Edify Energy.

The battery is part of a larger energy storage system of three units located near the 275 MW Darlington Point solar farm, with a total capacity of 150 MW/300 MWh.

ARENA has agreed to provide AUD6.6 million (US$4.4 million) to the project, while the state of New South Wales will contribute a separate AUD6.5 million (US$4.1 million) as part of its AUD75 million Emerging Energy Programme.
