Mytilineos SA, an industrial group based in Greece, has started the construction of its 75 MW Wyalong solar photovoltaic (PV) project located in New South Wales, Australia.
The complex, which will be built at West Wyalong in the state's Riverina region, would cover over 260 hectares of land. The solar plant will operate under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with NBN Co., an Australian government-owned firm that will construct the country's broadband network. The construction works are estimated to take about six months.
The project can generate enough power for up to 27,000 local residences. In 2020, Mytilineos purchased the Wyalong solar PV farm from Australian renewable energy producer ESCO Pacific.
