Tesla has secured a contract with Edify to supply Megapack batteries for three energy storage projects with a total of 150 MW/300 MWh capacity in New South Wales, Australia.
Edify’s planned energy storage facilities will be located in Riverina and Darlington Point in New South Wales’ Murrumbidgee Shire, with a total capacity of 150 MW/300 MWh.The 60 MW/120 MWh Riverina Energy Storage System 1, the 65 MW/130 MWh Riverina Energy Storage System 2, and the 25 MW/50 MWh Darlington Point Energy Storage System will operate as three independent but co-located projects, feeding electricity into NSW electric operator Transgrid’s substation at Darlington Point. The energy storage projects will be deployed under an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract with Tesla Motors Australia, U.S.-based Tesla Inc.’s Australian subsidiary.
Edify has a long-term service agreement for the offtake of the project’s first portion with Shell Energy. Tesla Megapacks at the facilities will be used to store energy and supply dispatchable power to schools, hospitals, and government buildings across New South Wales.
