The Federation Asset Management Pty Ltd and Edify Energy have completed the construction of the 150 MW/300 MWh co-located battery projects in New South Wales, Australia.
The Riverina Energy Storage System 1, which features a capacity of 60 MW/120 MWh, has output contracted to Shell Energy. Meanwhile, the Riverina Energy Storage System 2, with a capacity of 65 MW/130 MWh, will be contracted to EnergyAustralia. The remaining system, Darlington Point Energy Storage System, will have 25 MW/50 MWh capacity and will also be contracted to EnergyAustralia, supported by government ARENA grant funding.
The Riverina and Darlington Point systems use Tesla’s Megapack technology and grid-forming advanced inverters to create the largest battery storage of its kind to date in the state.
Federation Asset Management and Edify Energy partnered on the project, which was supported by AUD13.1 million (US$8.82 million) from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency and the NSW government. The facilities will be 90% owned by Federation Asset Management, while Edify Energy with a 10% share will operate them.
Origin Energy Limited has made a final decision to invest around AUD600 million (US$401.5 million) in the first phase of the Eraring battery energy storage project in New South Wales (NSW), Australia.
