EDF Renewables Ireland has announced its plans to construct the 50 MW Freneystown wind project located in County Kilkenny, west of the village of Castlewarren and northeast of Kilkenny City, Ireland.
Currently, EDF is collecting wind data and mapping the site's environmental restrictions in order to build a preliminary wind turbine plan. The site is undergoing detailed environmental evaluations, including ecological, noise, landscape, and visual assessments.
The wind farm could be built and run by 2028, pending approval from the planning department. It is anticipated to power more than 35,000 homes.
