Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) has awarded the contract to supply circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers and turbines for the 110MW Palu 3 coal-fired power plant on Sulawesi island to South Korea’s Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction.
The deal is worth KRW120 billion (US$100.6 million). The company plans to install CFB boilers and other equipment by 2023.
A CFB boiler adopts a coal combustion technology that greatly reduces emissions of pollutants such as nitrogen oxide and sulfur oxides. It also boasts of high low-grade coal burning efficiency that would help save costs.
