The Japanese company, Aura Green Energy, is set to build a palm plantation biomass power plant in the Aceh special province of Sumatra, Indonesia. The 12 MW biomass power plant will generate power using empty fruit bunches (EFB) of palm oil residue after extracting palm oil as a fuel as well as palm kernel cake (PKC) and palm waste liquid (POME).
The JPY3 billion (US$27 million) project will be implemented under Japan's Ministry of Environment's bilateral credit system (JCM). It is expected to be operational by 2021.
