Japanese utility Shikoku Electric Power Co. and trading house Mitsui & Co. have invested in the 10 MW hydroelectric power project in Indonesia developed by PT Terregra Asia Energy.
The Batang Toru 3 hydro power station is located about 200 kilometers south of Medan, in North Sumatra. It has a 20-year power purchase agreement deal with PT PLN (Persero).
The Japanese firms will acquire a 15% stakes each in the US$20 million hydro asset. Commercial operation of the project is expected to be done by the start of 2020.
PT Terregra Asia Energy holds a 50.25% share in the plant and other investors own the remainder.
