Intersect Power has begun commercial operation at its 500 MW Oberon solar and storage project in Riverside County, California, USA.
The undertaking utilized First Solar modules sourced from Ohio, NX Horizon smart solar trackers provided by Nextracker, and structural steel made in the United States. The accompanying 1 GWh storage facility incorporated Tesla batteries sourced from the Lathrop facility in California. The Oberon project stands out as the inaugural venture to achieve operational status through the streamlined process outlined in the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan. Energy, Renewable Energy Credits, and Resource Adequacy produced by the Oberon project are set to be procured by a consortium of off-takers, including Calpine Energy Solutions, Constellation, Ava Community Energy (formerly East Bay Community Energy), Microsoft, and San Diego Community Power. The provision of tax equity was facilitated by Morgan Stanley Renewables Bancorp Impact Finance.
