The US Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has issued a notice to proceed thereby approving the development and construction of the 500 MW Oberon Solar photovoltaic project that will be located on about 1,052 ha of BLM-managed lands near Desert Center in California. The solar project is in an area analyzed and identified as suitable for renewable energy development as part of BLM’s Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan Land Use Plan Amendment.
The project in Riverside County is planned to have a complementary 500 MW battery energy storage facility. Once operational, it is expected to generate enough power for the consumption of up to 146,000 homes.
Oberon Solar LLC. is responsible for the construction of the solar project.
