RWE Renewables has started the commercial operation of the 195.5 MW Hickory Park solar photovoltaic project located in Mitchell County in Georgia, USA. The project comprises more than 650,000 solar panels, covering an area of about 1,800 acres.
RWE is responsible for the operation and management of the solar facility, which is coupled with a 40 MW 2-hour battery storage system. The integration of the DC-coupled storage system allows the project’s energy yield to be optimized and increases the predictability of injection of locally produced electricity into the Georgia Power grid.
The energy that will be produced from the plant was contracted by Georgia Power, through its Renewable Energy Development Initiative (REDI) program, under a 30-year power purchase agreement (PPA) signed in 2019.
Vistra has started the commercial operation of its 260 MW/260 MWh DeCordova Energy Storage Facility located in Granbury, Texas in the USA.
