RWE Renewables has announced that its 200-megawatt (MW) onshore wind farm named El Algodon Alto has begun commercial operation in the USA.
The project is located in San Patricio County, Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) south market. The onshore wind farm consists of 91 Vestas turbines and will generate enough electricity to power more than 60,000 homes. In total, the project spent more than USD11.1 million locally during the construction period.
With the addition of El Algodon Alto, RWE will have delivered a total installed generation capacity of more than 3,700 MW of wind power online in Texas, including more than 1,700 MW on the Texas coast.
JINGOLI Power, LLC, and Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc have been awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts for a 1,100 MW Ocean Wind 1 offshore wind farm.
