Chilean electric utility Colbun SA has secured approval for its environmental permit for the development and construction of the 980 MW Horizonte wind project in the Antofagasta region of Chile.
The greenfield project will be built in the commune of Taltal and will feature 140 turbines of up to 7 MW individual capacity. Colbun is investing US$700 million to develop the project that can generate around 2,000 GWh of energy per year.
The construction of the project is expected to start before the end of 2021.
