Madeco by Nexans, in agreement with Sigdo Koppers Ingeniería y Construcción SA, has secured a contract from Colbun SA to provide cabling solutions to the 788 MW Horizonte wind farm in Taltal, Antofagasta region, Chile.
As part of the agreement, Madeco by Nexans will supply 840 km of cables that it will produce at the Nexans plants in Chile and Peru. The conductor design was optimized based on the requirements of the project. The first deliveries are planned for May 2022.
Horizonte wind farm consists of 140 wind turbines on 8 hectares, expected to generate 2,400 GWh per year, equivalent to the consumption of more than 700 thousand homes and reducing CO2 emissions by 1.2 million tons annually.
Andes Solar has received approval from the Environmental Qualification Resolution of Chile for the development of its 152 MW solar photovoltaic project.
