Ciel & Terre International has secured Approval in Principle (AiP) from Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore for its Fusio floating solar system in France.
The project focuses on the certification and advancement of a new floating solar technology called Fusio®, developed by Ciel & Terre International. The company has received Approval in Principle (AiP) Level 1 from Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore for the design of this floating photovoltaic system. This approval confirms that the concept and engineering of the Fusio system meet recognized technical standards and safety requirements for deployment on inland or calm water bodies such as reservoirs and lakes. The certification process assessed several key aspects of the system, including the floating structure that supports solar panels, the anchoring and mooring system, the mechanical interfaces for electrical cables, and the electrical specifications used in the installation.
Fusio represents a new generation of floating solar solutions designed to improve durability, efficiency, and adaptability. Its architecture uses a honeycomb-style floating structure that provides stronger mechanical stability and better distribution of loads across the platform. The design also integrates electrical and mooring systems more efficiently and reduces long-term structural stress, making installations more resilient to environmental forces such as wind and waves. With these features, the system aims to support large-scale floating solar installations while maintaining reliable performance and long operational lifetimes.
The AiP certification also strengthens the credibility of Fusio technology among investors, developers, and regulators. Independent validation from Bureau Veritas helps demonstrate that the technology is technically viable and suitable for commercial deployment. According to the company, Fusio has already been installed on several pilot projects that have operated for about two years under strong wind and wave conditions without experiencing structural damage, further confirming the robustness of the design.
