Principle Power has completed the integration of the third and final turbine for Ocean Winds' 30MW Eoliennes Flottantes du Golfe du Lion (EFGL) floating wind farm at Port-La Nouvelle.
The WindFloat platform, equipped with a Vestas V164-10MW turbine, is set to be towed offshore shortly to join the first unit already installed 16km off Leucate and Le Barcares. This marks the completion of all onshore construction work, with all three turbines now fully assembled on Principle Power’s floating platforms. The milestone highlights the technological maturity of the WindFloat design and underscores the effective collaboration between project sponsors Ocean Winds and key partners, including Euroports, Mammoet, Vestas, Eiffage Metal, Smulders, and the Port-La Nouvelle infrastructure developed by La Region Occitanie/Pyrenees-Mediterranee.
Principle Power leveraged over a decade of operational expertise in designing and constructing the EFGL structures. The company’s track record includes the 2MW WindFloat 1 launched in 2011, the 25MW WindFloat Atlantic commissioned in 2020, and the 50MW Kincardine project completed in 2021.
