The 17 MW floating solar PV plant in Europe was inaugurated in southern France by Akuo Energy.
O'MEGA 1 floating solar PV project is located in Piolenc, Vaucluse in France. O`MEGA 1 is powered by more than 47,000 units of TSM-DEG14.20(II) dual-glass monocrystalline PERC modules in its low carbon footprint version that produces 100% renewable energy covering the consumption of more than 4,733 households. The plant avoids the emission of roughly 1,093 tons of CO2 per year.
The solar panels are installed atop the so-called Hydrelio platforms, made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and designed by floating PV specialist Ciel & Terre. The Hydrelio units, exclusively distributed by Akuo in France, are supposedly built to withstand 210 km/h wind speeds. They cater to systems on irrigation basins and drinking water basins.
The project construction at the 17-hectare site was taken care of by Bouygues Energies.
Natixis Energeco support the project with EUR12.8 million (US$14.2 million) loan. Part of the financing was sourced via crowdfunding.
