Dhamma Energy has started the construction of the 87.5 MWp Athies-Samoussy plant, the largest solar park in the French region of Hauts-de-France. The project is located in the former NATO air base of Laon-Athies, in the north of the country.
The investment for the Athies-Samoussy solar park amounts to around EUR70 million (US$77 million). The solar park will occupy an area of 100 hectares in the old Laon-Athies air base, which gives new use to a land that is currently in disuse. The annual electricity production of the plant will be 93 GWh, which is equivalent to the domestic electricity consumption of 40,000 homes.
The project has both public and private investors. It has obtained EUR1.1 million (US$1.2 million) through the crowdfunding platform Lendosphere in July.
