EDF is set to build a new reactor at the Flamanville nuclear power plant that will cost about EUR1.5 billion (US$1.6 billion) more than the initially proposed.
The European pressurized reactor (EPR) in Flamanville was initially projected to value EUR3.3 billion (US$3.6 billion) and to become operational in 2012.
The power plant has experienced wielding problems that delayed the commissioning of the new reactor. French Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN) required EDF to repair the nuclear plant after its assessment.
