Chinese power company China Three Gorges SA (CTG) has started the commercial operation of its 400 MW offshore wind farm project that is part of a 1.7 GW offshore wind complex located in the Guangdong province of China.
The 400 MW wind farm is the Phase 2 project of the Shapa offshore wind farm that is built in the city of Yangjiang. Phase 2 consists of 62 6.45-MW wind turbines that can generate up to 1.09 billion kWh of energy per year. The entire Shapa offshore wind complex will be developed in five stages. The first stage, 300 MW Shapa Phase 1, was put into commercial operation in November 2019.
Phase 2 has started supplying power to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
