China Three Gorges (CTG) has fully commissioned its three offshore wind power projects with a total combined capacity of 3.1 GW.
On December 25, 2021, the company completed the 1.1 GW Jiangsu Rudong and the 1.7 GW Yangjiang Shapa, which are the first two gigawatt offshore wind farms in operation in China, and the 300 MW Jiangsu Dafeng H8 offshore wind farm.
The 1.7 Shapa offshore wind project was divided into five phases and is expected to generate 4.7 TWh of electricity per year. This wind farm is also the first one in the world to connect floating wind turbines to fixed bottom turbines. The 1.1 GW Jiangsu Rudong project includes three areas- the 300 MW H8, 400 MW H6 and 400 MW H10. The wind farm is expected to generate 2.4 TWh of electricity per year.
In addition, CTG has started the construction of its 1.7 GW pumped storage power station in Tiantai County, Zhajiang Province. It is anticipated to reduce coal usage by about 520,000 tonnes for Zhejiang's grid power system per year.
Huaneng Power International has switched on a 320 MW floating solar photovoltaic array in China’s Shandong province. It deployed the plant near its 2.65 GW Dezhou thermal power station. Huaneng...
