The Wholesale Electricity Market Management Company (CAMMESA) authorized the Pomona II Wind Farm, located in the Province of Río Negro, to enter into commercial operation. Pomona II will start dispatching energy for large users with contracts that range between 15 and 20 years, effective from August 2019.

Its Nordex wind turbines will produce an annual energy volume of 46 thousand MWh; which will be delivered to the Argentine Interconnection System (SADI) to be distributed to three large users. Arlei, exporter of high quality leathers; Meranol, a petrochemical company that supplies energy and mass consumption companies; and Amcor, the largest producer of soft plastics in the country, will source electricity from the plant. These companies signed their PPAs under the Energy Market Term Market regime Renewable (MaTER).

The Pomona II Wind Farm demanded an investment of approximately US$14 million.

In its entirety, the Pomona I & II Wind Farm has 29 Nordex wind turbines, arranged on a 1,365-hectare site; which will generate 447,000 MWh per year, equivalent to the consumption of 150,000 homes, and prevent the emanation of 224,000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere. The work was executed in 14 months (two months ahead of schedule) and employed 300 workers.
