ACCIONA Energía has completed the commissioning and start of commercial operations of its 27 MW Opor and 45 MW Boraja II wind farms in Croatia. Both wind farms have begun supplying electricity to the national grid through Hrvatski Operator Tržišta Energije (HROTE), the Croatian energy market operator.
The Opor wind farm is located in the Split-Dalmatia region and features six turbines, while Boraja II is in Šibenik-Knin and comprises ten. Both use 4.5 MW Nordex turbines mounted on 105-meter steel towers.
Both projects are linked to 12-year contracts for difference, awarded through a public auction under a program launched by the Croatian Government and HROTE and approved by the European Commission to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy. This mechanism guarantees a reference price for the electricity generated, providing revenue stability for the projects and reducing their exposure to wholesale market price volatility.
The Opor and Boraja II wind farms created up to 400 direct jobs during peak construction activity. The projects will generate around 203 GWh of clean electricity annually and prevent the emission of approximately 135,000 tonnes of CO₂ each year
Hrvatska elektroprivreda dd has concluded agreements with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) on financing the construction of the 99 MW Korlat Solar Power Plant in Croatia.
