Boultbee Brooks Renewable Energy has received approval to construct the 70-hectare 50 MW Highfields Solar Farm project near Costock in Nottinghamshire, UK. The solar farm will generate enough renewable energy to supply approximately 17,000 homes and save 11,210 tonnes of CO2 annually. In addition, planting species-rich grass, wildflowers, and new hedgerows around the site will significantly benefit the environment by increasing the area’s net biodiversity by as much as 122%. The development is part of a pipeline of similar projects currently being worked on by the JV partnership Infraland and Boultbee Brooks Renewable Energy.
The solar farm development will contribute to the UK’s net zero ambitions by combatting climate change and generating jobs, providing a diversified income stream to a local farm business and business rates for investment in council services. Last year, the JV partnership was given planning permission to develop a 10MW solar farm near Northwold, West Norfolk, and is working on a 400MW pipeline of similar projects across 17 sites throughout the UK.
The solar farm development will commence in 2024 and will benefit the community by increasing biodiversity and providing green energy to power homes while reducing emissions.
