BayWa has announced the sale of the 26 MW Steinberger Alpe and Soboth wind project located in the province of Carinthia, Austria to Kelag. The purchase of the operational wind farm is expected to be concluded by May of this year.
Steinberger Alpe and Soboth, located east of Klagenfurt, is home to eight wind turbines that began operation in the summer of 2022. The wind turbines generate 60,000 MWh of clean electricity annually when placed at a height of 1,400 to 1,600 m. This electricity corresponds to the average annual consumption of around 13,000 Austrian households.
Kelag, a large regional energy company, is known for its focus on clean energy and innovation. The acquisition of Steinberger Alpe and Soboth will help Kelag increase its renewable energy portfolio, contributing to the country's efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and transition toward a more sustainable energy system.
