Banks Renewables has announced its plans for a 50 MW solar photovoltaic energy park in South Yorkshire, England, UK.
The Common Farm solar project will have 50 MW battery energy storage system and will connect directly to the Thurcroft electrical sub-station, which is three kilometers north of the site. The plant will be built on a 116-hectare plot of agricultural land and will produce enough power for up to 18,800 family homes annually, avoiding over 11,470 tonnes of CO2 from the electricity supply network each year.
Banks Renewables will donate at least GBP50,000 (US$60,000) of project proceeds each year, as part of a package to support local good causes. The company is to submit a planning application for the new development to Rotherham Council in the coming months, with a decision expected before the end of the year.
