EDF Renewables UK, a unit of French energy group EDF, has filed a planning application with the West Northamptonshire Council for a 50 MW Glassthorpe solar photovoltaic project in Northamptonshire, UK.
The project has the capacity to generate enough energy to power 9,562 households and is expected to offset up to 21,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually. The EDF is expecting to start the construction in 2023, providing the planning permission will be granted. The Glassthorpe solar farm will be located between the villages of Flore and Upper Heyford.
