The developers of the Cauchari solar photovoltaic complex in Jujuy province of Argentina has completed the 100 MW Cauchari I which is the last phase of the 312 MW solar complex.

The Cauchari II and III solar projects have entered into commercial operation in October 2018. The Cauchari solar complex represents a total investment of about US$390 million with funding sourced from state-owned Export-Import Bank of China.

The solar complex have secured a 20-year power purchase agreement with the energy regulator CAMMESA at an average price of US$60 per MWh.

Cauchari I, II, and III solar projects are located at Puna plateau at 4,020 meters above sea level. The combined output of the plants can generate enough energy to power up to 166,000 local homes.

Jujuy State Energy and Mining Society (JEMSE) will manage the operation of the solar power complex. The construction of the plant was executed by Shanghai Electric Power Construction (SEPC), a unit of the construction group Powerchina. Talesun has supplied about 1.18 million solar panels and Huawei provided the inverters.
